Sara Splatter

GM Sara Splatter

Sara is a Game Master and co-founder of Crystal Sword Games. She has been playing Dungeons & Dragons for over 20 years and first stepped behind the screen in 2018. She runs horror and high fantasy games—from cursed voyages to funeral home infiltrations to tavern nights that spiral out of control. Her games are cinematic, character-driven, and maybe a touch chaotic (if the right players are at the table). They may also feature a dangerously charismatic woman or two. Sara especially loves introducing new players to the game and watching them go from unsure of the basics to discovering the player they were meant to be. When she’s not GMing and running Crystal Sword Games Sara works as a Licensed Veterinary Technician and spends time with her partner Jeremy, her dog Bear, and her cat Guenhwyvar.

Jett

GM Jett

Jett is a Game Master and co-founder of Crystal Sword Games. A lifetime devotee of all things fantasy & sci-fi, Jett has been a Game Master for 10 out of the 15 years they’ve been playing TTRPGs. They’ve run hundreds of games for bars, game stores, events, and private tables in New York City, as well as online games for players all over the world. Jett loves creating roleplay-rich experiences that foster an environment of mutual respect, curiosity, and fun. They provide inclusive game experiences that make room for everyone to bring their unique piece to the story (with a healthy balance of combat and strategy, of course!) From silly to serious, Jett’s games come with good narrative sense, improv skills, some fun character voices, and the adaptability necessary to nudge the story in the direction the players find most interesting. When they’re not rolling dice, Jett is probably finding an excuse to have a beer on the ferry (they love a boat ride), watching old detective noirs or Star Trek, carrying around their partner Vigor Mortis’ wig at the drag show, or caring for their judgmental lizards, Dr. Teeth and Bartimaeus.

Warren

he/him

Warren

Warren’s favorite phrase at the TTRPG table is “How much health do you have left?”. He’s been a game master for 14 years, specializing in grandiose boss battles with villains equally as tactical as the players. Games at his table are often filled with morally grey raucous characters, untrustworthy mercenaries, powerful beings in disguise as flower merchants, and grunge punk chimeras. Magic the Gathering players will recognize quickly that he generally uses MTG planes for his one-shots and arcs, giving veteran players DnD a pleasantly unfamiliar surprise and new hazards to puzzle out. While he mostly runs Dungeons and Dragons, his favorite influences are Mörq Borg, Into The Wyrd and Wild, Kult, Orun, Overlight, Call of Cthulhu and Kids on Bikes. Don’t ask him anything about Final Fantasy, or prepare for a long night. Warren loves showing new players the ropes, and anyone that’s played multiple games with him knows that everything is connected, in some small way.

His games are all run at lvl 5, and, players are welcome to bring their own characters to any of his games. If using a homebrew class, just send it his way first via email or griffin, and he’ll get back faster than you can solve one of his time puzzles.

Maiia

she/they

Maiia

Game designer by day and D&D enthusiast by night, Maiia has run a wide range of campaigns and modules, from 15-minute demos at New York Comic Con to months-long adventures like The Shattered Obelisk. Her games are a kaleidoscope of mysteries and adventures, drawing inspiration from sapphic literature, folklore, and internet culture. At Maiia’s table, you will traverse outer space, unravel alchemical secrets, or survive life in a grimdark necromantic city after being revived as a skeleton. The one rule that never changes is the Rule of Cool: if you want to try something, we’ll figure it out together.

Jo

they/them

GM Jo

From gothic horror, to high octane camp, Jo’s favorite stories are ones that are unafraid to lean into genre. They love to invite a table into melodrama, into the absurd, and into the breadth of wild imagination. As a GM one of their intentions is to meet their players where they are at, and then invite them to lean into their curiosity, wonder, and sense of childlike play.

While they love D&D their first love is indie games. Kids on Bikes (and recent offshoot Never Stop Blowing Up), The Curse of the House of Rookwood and Colin Cumming’s incredible Carly Rae Jepsen inspired set of games live among their all time favorites.

Jo has worked with StoryForgers as a traveling DM playing D&D with strangers all across New York City, as well as carrying out campaigns for those in their Astoria and queer community. You can also find them running anthology style one-shots for A Court of Kings, New York’s premier Dungeons, Dragons, and Drag Kings show.
